Management of capabilities and situations in R&D centres: the matrix of competences
Article Abstract:
Previous research has shown a relationship between individual competences and a firm's competitiveness. This link is much more apparent in organizations such as R&D centers, where the knowledge base is embodied in human resources. Thus, management's capacity to adopt policies for human resources development determines whether a firm can remain competitive or not. The way human resources are managed in the research center of a well-known Italian industrial organization is studied.
