The secret wealth of super funds
Article Abstract:
The growth of superannuation pension funds is creating a more equitable distribution of wealth and is changing the way Australia views its economy. Half of individual wealth is in owner-occupied property and 20% is in pension funds. Thus far, pension funds have had a negligible influence on savings, accounting for only 4.3% of income, while borrowing is up. Globally, the development of pension funds will dramatically affect fiscal policy, the role of stockmarkets, and economic relations.
