The main reasons that companies are able to retain high-performing employees involve recognition, the chance to learn new skills, and feedback, according to surveys conducted in the United States. Pay was the least important of 50 factors analyzed. In a Kepner-Tregoe Inc. survery, 16% of respondents cited conflict with a boss as one of the three most common reasons for departure.
