How managers control employees' time
Article Abstract:
A comprehensive study on how managers control the works hours of employees was conducted by observing and interviewing employees of a large high-technology firm. The research indicates that managers are able to exercise control over employees' work hours through the imposition of demands, monitoring, modeling their behavior and by requiring them to perform extra work. The research also suggests that employees willing to work long hours were rewarded by salary increases, promotions and choice assignments. It is concluded that management of work hours will be beneficial if it can be related to employees' commitment and productivity.

Modeling aggression in the workplace: the role of role models
Article Abstract:
Workplace aggression is an issue that unduly affects company expenditures and morale. The management is required to address the causes of this type of aggression. A study conducted by Sandra L. Robinson and Anne O'Leary-Kelly revealed the factors that may contribute to workplace aggression. Results show that the behavior of employees has an impact on the behavior of individual workers. In addition, workplace surveillance had no impact on the modeling of the aggressive behavior of co-employees.
