Trader In Residence
Article Abstract:
United States government departments and agencies are investigating American complaints and disputes involving foreign trade. America's international economic policy could be better monitored by an assistant for international economic policy in the White House. This is the belief of Dr. Robert D. Hormats, who has served as a past Presidential senior economic official. Dr. Hormats is opposed to President Reagan's Department of International Trade and Industry (DITI) cabinet level proposal. The DITI person would have trouble coordinating trade-related issues that would conflict with departmental lines of authority.
