U.N. 'social summit' held in Copenhagen

The UN's World Summit on Social Development was held Mar 6-13, 1995, and was attended by 118 world leaders and 13,000 delegates from 180 countries. The conference developed a nonbinding 10-point plan that urged developed nations to devote .7% of their GNP towards foreign aid for developing countries.

Ibero-American Summit meets in Argentina

San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina, hosted the fifth annual Ibero-American Summit on Oct. 16-17, 1995, which was attended by 19 heads of state and 23 foreign ministers from Spain, Portugal and Latin America. A statement denouncing the US trade embargo against Cuba was issued during the summit.

EC Edinburgh summit reaches key accord

The leaders of the European Community nations agreed at a Dec 11-13, 1992, meeting in Edinburgh, Scotland, to several compromise measures that move their countries closer to a European union. The measures included a limited participation by Denmark.
