UPS nullifies part of Teamsters contract
Article Abstract:
The United Parcel Service of America Inc. (UPS) has annulled its contract with the Teamsters union to create 2,000 full-time jobs by the end of July 1998. The agreement to form the jobs was part of the company's settlement with the union that put an end to a 15-day strike in the summer of 1997. UPS invoked a clause in the labor contract that permitted it to annul the agreement in the event that package volume did not return to prestrike levels.
