U.S. ends opposition to loans

Pres Clinton removed restrictions on making multilateral loans to Vietnam on Jul 2, 1993, but he did not lift the the economic embargo. Clinton said he would lift the embargo only when the missing in action from the Vietnam War had been accounted for.

The Senate MIA panel issued a final report on Jan 13, 1993, after a 15-month investigation. The report stated that there was no evidence of US POWs left in Indochina from the Vietnam War.
