Ulster election plan unveiled
Article Abstract:
British and Irish leaders met to discuss the planned May 30, 1996, elections for Northern Ireland in Mar 1996. The strategy sessions did not include the Sinn Fein because the terrorist group, the Irish Republican Army, had broken a cease-fire in Feb 1996. Elections will be based on constituency.

High-level Ulster talks seen
Article Abstract:
High-ranking British officials will meet with members of the Sinn Fein to discuss peace between Northern Ireland and the UK. Talks stopped after an impasse about when Irish disarmament and British troop removal from Northern Ireland would occur. Some British troops were removed in Apr 1995.

High-level Ulster meeting postponed
Article Abstract:
The Irish government cancelled Sep 1995 talks between officials from Ireland and Great Britain to discuss setting up an independent commission that would determine disarmament of the Irish Republican Army. Talks between the governments have stalled as neither side is yielding its position.
