University research and development of a microsatellite
Article Abstract:
Large industrial development projects can be incorporated into graduate engineering programs to prepare students for R & D careers. The SUNSAT low- earth orbit micro-satellite development project conducted by the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department of South Africa's Stellenbosch University provided students with applied knowledge of systems engineering as well as project and technology management in engineering organizations. At the same time, the students were able to produce a relatively high level technology product.

Stimulating 'hot technologies': interorganizational networks in Dutch ceramic research
Article Abstract:
The interorganizational research and development networks existent in Dutch ceramic research is studied to determine the role of these networks in knowledge transfer. Particular attention is given to the validity of the knowledge push model of technological innovation with the analysis centering on the variations in the pattern of external contacts between industry, government and universities. It is shown that institutional and industrial research networks differ and that government policies impact on the views of scientists.

The influence of firms' technological capabilities on export performance in supplier-dominated industries: the case of ceramic tiles firms
Article Abstract:
Through analysis of data from the Spanish ceramic tile industry, article discusses the correlation between industrial technological innovation and international competitiveness. It is concluded that innovation and technological development have a positive effect on exports and other production processes.
