The BRW1000 removed 17 companies out of their list, due to the problems associated with the bear market. The value of the portfolios were lost in respect of life insurance and super funds as they were exposed to global equity market which fell about 20% a year since 2000 and of superannuation funds as they could not raise sufficient revenue to stay in the BRW 1000.

Profits lift, but at a cost
Article Abstract:
The total net profit of the 500 biggest listed companies in Australia is stated. The findings are based on data prepared for BRW by the business information company IBIS World, which analysed the revenue, profit, dividend payment and movement in market capitalisation of the top 500 companies listed on the Australian Stock exchange for the latest half-year.

Tim Maguire, the 45-year old artist has been producing his monumental flower studies for a couple of years and won the Moet & Chandon scholarship with one in 1993. Other artists who have achieved record prices at auction in the 2003 include McLean Edwards, Patrica Piccinini, Cressida Campbell, David Bromley, Dale Frank and Rick Amor.
