Web wireless beckons as radio's way to go

Radio broadcasters are discovering that using Internet Web sites to broadcast audio programs and visually market the radio station's brand is relatively inexpensive and has a potentially huge, worldwide audience. Though audio streaming technology is relatively primitive, the percentage of American Internet users who used the Web for radio broadcasts increased in one year from 18% to 30%. Start-up costs for a new entrant to traditional radio broadcasting is at least $20 million. An Internet radio start-up costs less than $3 million.

Packaging a product is a useful marketing tool. Consumers are prepared to pay a little more for products that are packed in useful and innovative methods. Example of rice packed in bottles and pasta packed in screw top jars are highlighted to prove this concept.
