Yeltsin, Zyuganov set election bids

Yeltsin announced his plans to seek reelection on Feb 15, 1996, in a speech before a youth club in Yekaterinburg, Russia. He promised to stick to a centrist economic policy if he remains in power. Zyuganov, Yeltsin's main opponent, was endorsed by the Communist Party. The election is in Jun 1996.
