HOECHST SCHERING AGREVO: PROTECTING INVESTORS TOO

Hoechst Schering AgrEvo, a subsidiary of AgrEvo GmbH of Germany, posted a net profit of Rs16.52 crore on sales of Rs243.90 crore in 1997-98. It gave a total dividend of 70 percent in 1997-98. It launched Unim Plus, a weedicide for vegetables, cotton and tea and Puma super herbicide for wheat in 1997-98. It plans to introduce Afalon, a weedicide for potato, Patafol, for potato protection and Cobra for broad leaved weeds in 1999. The company's equity of Rs4.61 crore will increase to Rs9.22 crore after a 1:1 bonus issue. (khr)

SEARLE IS RPG LIFE SCIENCES, EYES Rs500-CR SALES IN 3 YRS

Searle India has been formally renamed as RPG Life Sciences Ltd and will come into effect from April 1, 1999. The RPG group has given up the option of using the Searle name until March 2000. The company has targeted sales of Rs500 crore after a period of three years, of which its pharmaceutical business will contribute Rs300 crore while the agro business will contribute Rs200 crore.
