A GIS-based decision support system for planning urban transportation policies
Article Abstract:
Analysis and evaluation of different transport policies on the basis of a decision support system (DSS) integrated in a geographical information system (GIS) is presented. Two transport policies of the Greater Athens Area in Greece concerning extension of the region where half of the private cars are prohibited from entering to the Municipality of Athens and reduction of parking places in the same region by 50% are presented as case studies.

Motorway network traffic control systems
Article Abstract:
The methods used for designing the motorway network traffic control strategies and the available control measures in terms of design, operating features, ramp metering, route guidance and link control are discussed. An advanced coordinated ramp metering control, based on large-scale optimisation that is applied to the Amsterdam ring-road is presented to support the discussion.
