The U.K.'s Court of Appeal heard a case involving a company that was refused a fire certificate from Northampton's fire authority. The claimant claimed the fire authority overstepped its authority by requiring costly upgrades to the warehouse in question. The court found in favor of the claimant.

When conciliation falls apart-counting the cost of court action
Article Abstract:
Costs of court action are high. Sometimes, one side may want to settle a case but the other side wants to push through, with the end result being costs so high they are unrecoverable. Civil Procedure Rules allow protection against greedy claimants and cost payment, however.

Big changes for leaner Technology and Construction Court blowing

The Technology and Construction Court has been undergoing changes. The three main changes it has undergone are the new Arbitration Act, the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996 and the new Civil Procedures Rules.
