A cloudburst of dictionaries
Article Abstract:
There has been a debate on the usage of English following the publication of the New Oxford Dictionary of English, though the dictionary aims to describe usage of language, not prescribe it. One topic that has aroused discussion is whether infinitives should be split. Split infinitives do sound odd, despite their usage in Star Trek. Dictionaries may also contain information that is more suitable for Atlases, such as past names of towns in Russia, and there should be control of proper names used in dictionaries.
