A general framework for distance-based consensus in ordinal ranking models
Article Abstract:
A general model for representing the value associated with rank positions in an ordinal setting is presented and models for deriving a consensus based on this framework are developed. It is shown that the general representation of distance-based consensus in terms of the value or worth associated with ordinal rank positions is equivalent to the conventional ordinal models, where distance is a function of the rank positions only. This validates the practice of using ordinal data for purposes for which they were not designed and affirms the robustness of the simple Borda, Kendall and median ranking models.

Characterizing an equitable allocation of shared costs: a DEA approach
Article Abstract:
The issue of allocating continuing fixed costs such as annual overhead is critical in many managerial decision problems. A study demonstrated the effectivity of applying data envelopment analysis (DEA) to obtain a characterization of an equitable cost allocation for the simple case involving one input and one output, the pure input case and the general multiple-inputs, multiple-outputs case. The proposed DEA-oriented cost allocation method reflects the activity level represented by the input consumption of the decision making unit.

Prioritization models for frontier decision making units in DEA
Article Abstract:
The frontier unit prioritization problem is analyzed based on management assumptions about the importance of factors in decision making units (DMUs). Models patterned after the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) model are presented for prioritizing efficient DMUs. These models effectively break ties on the frontier in case factors have been assigned relative priorities or are viewed as equally important.
