A global game of monopoly?

Industry consolidation and global integration do not necessarily portend monopolies; lax trade barriers enable new firms to compete. Alliances between industries with high R&D costs such as aerospace are the main monopoly threat, and should be policed by an international agency.

The non-global firm
Article Abstract:
Multinational firms are not global, but regional. Foreign investment in clustered in countries neighboring their own base, and if they expand into other regions they form regional clusters there. Costs have limited globalization in favor of strategic alliances.
