A multiobjective optimization approach to thermal generating units maintenance scheduling
Article Abstract:
A new solution to the problem of preventive maintenance scheduling of thermal generating units is introduced. The approach, which has been implemented in software, treats the problem as a combinatorial optimization activity with several objectives, namely, fuel cost reductions, reliability enhancements and minimal constraints violations. The optimization, which is carried out by a branch-and-bound procedure, involves a comparison between the best solution and a new local optimum.
