A phoenix arises
Article Abstract:
Philippine Airlines has undergone a revival which should allow it to resume activities provided that labor union members ratify an agreement between the main labor union president, Alex Barrientos, and the owner, Lucio Tan. The government refused to rescue the airline using public funds, and the airline provides vital transportation links for a number of small islands. Cathay Pacific was brought in to cover some domestic routes, and this prompted an agreement between employees and management for which President Joseph Estrada has been given much of the credit.
