Bosnian Pres Alija Izetbegovic agreed to meet with Serbian and Croatian leaders to discuss partitioning Bosnia as a way to end the civil war. Izetbegovic has refused to meet with Serbs unless the shelling of Sarajevo ceased, but he was pressured by other Muslim leaders.

Serbian and Muslim troops have agreed to allow the United Nations to airlift food into Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina. The tentative cease-fire is the UN peacekeepers first chance to aid the starving civilians hit hard by the civil war.

The United Nations has prolonged the Serbian siege of Sarajevo by providing food to both sides in the civil war. Serbian troops outnumber Bosnians and Muslims, but are afraid a full assault would prompt foreign intervention.
