A rarity in Singapore
Article Abstract:
Omni Industries Ltd.'s initial public offering of 54 million new shares on Feb. 18, 1997 has been perceived by founder Koh Boon Hwee as a triumph in a country dominated by multinationals. The firm, which was formed along with Hwee's former Hewlett Packard colleagues, offered 40.5 million shares to retail investors and 13.5 million shares to institutional investors at US $0.32 per share. The firm is a product of Hwee and his colleague's aim of establishing a truly Singaporean business entity in view of the 4,000 multinational firms in the country.
