A stronger suck
Article Abstract:
The European physics laborayory, CERN, has developed a new type of vacuum pump. The pump has been developed by Cristoforo Benvenuti and uses new getter material which has a number of advantages. The new material can form part of a vacuum chamber, and vacuum chambers can be constructed that are cheaper, more compact and better. There are also applications in making filed-emission displays. CERN has sought to protect its intellectual property by taking out patents for this pump.
