Although the competition system in Britain was designed to help architects develop great projects, it is a system that almost hurts the process. Juries are often not qualified to make decisions and architects typically afraid and unwilling to be risky, lest the jury not choose their projects.

Beauty has been culled by the 20th century's quest for quantification and qualification. This trend has had a negative effect on architecture. Architects have become so obsessed with policy that they've forgotten beauty and imagination.
