Critics of international monetary fund's Asia policy grow: they say high-rates remedy, anemic government spending stifle economies; new cure needed
Article Abstract:
A growing number of economists are criticizing the International Monetary Fund's policy which imposes high rates and weak government spending in Asia. The high rates are designed to stabilize shattered currencies and economies. However, the benefits of those high rates seems to diminish given the declining currencies and mainly because of Japan's recession which is affecting the region, causing negative expectations across Asia.
