ABN Amro causes stir in Italy
Article Abstract:
ABN Amro Holding NV announced that it was considering acquiring a larger share of Banca di Roma SpA. ABN also said it is interested in acquiring a controlling percentage of the bank. Banca di Roma is the fourth-largest bank in Italy in terms of assets. Regulators in Italy has given approval to ABN to purchase as much as 30% of Banca di Roma. The bank's share value rose 8.3% following the news of ABN's plans.
