Paper wars
Article Abstract:
The Financial Times (FT) and Wall Street Journal have seen rises in advertising revenue, and also face competition from one another and from online services. The FT launched a US edition in Sep 1997 and is also launching a German edition in Feb 2000. Wall Street Journal's parent, Dow Jones, is charging for services, while the FT is seeking to set up a business portal using its brand and offering free content. The FT has taken on more staff, and hopes that advertising revenue will increase.
