AIR's FM TUNE STRIKES A LOW NOTE
Article Abstract:
All India Radio (AIR) has taken off private operators like Times FM, Radio Mid-Day and HMV FM from its FM channel in June 1998 as they were resisting its efforts to increase broadcast fees. AIR now earns about Rs70 lakh per month from its four FM metro channels but industry source say that its earning potential is very much more. Experts say that AIR has not been able to generate more revenues from its FM channels as its programmes have not been of very good quality while advertising agencies feel that AIR is not open to innovative packages and programmes.
