Regulating Europe's telecommunications: the need for a rethink
Article Abstract:
Pressure to liberalise European telecommunications market may prove ineffective, as national governments remain unwilling to create and control fully competitive telecommunications markets, according to research undertaken by Gemini Consulting and the Economist Intelligence Unit. Against this background, it is vital for Europe to look again at present moves towards liberalisation and to consider different regulatory frameworks. It is now time to focus on regulations which will encourage investment in new technologies and the development of new products and services.
