AUSTRIA: ARTAX REPORTS RESULTS

The Austrian company Artax AG, which emerged from a management buyout of Austria Milch- und Fleischvermarktung (AMF) in 1998, reports a smaller than expected loss of Sch 7.6mn for the first business year. Group turnover amounted to Sch 1.54bn, generated mainly with functional milk products. Artax subsidiary Lactoprot produces milk powder in Austria. Half of the total is made out of organic milk. With the German subsidiary Rovita GmbH, Lactoprot is the world's third-biggest producer of caseinate. Another subsidiary, Biomerx, is involved in the re-developing of former dairy and slaughterhouse sites.

Austria: Software company SBB wins new clients
Article Abstract:
Thanks to its ability to save its clients money, the Austrian software company SBB has won new clients since 11 September 2001 even in sectors which have been heavily affected by the aftermath of the terrorist attacks in the US. Its new clients include the Chicago Stock Exchange and the German travel company TUI. The company develops software systems which supervise complicated data processing tasks, such as the consolidation of an entire company's telephone bills. The company expects a growth in turnover of between 30% and 50% in 2001. It employs 120 people worldwide.

AUSTRIA: FABASOFT PLANNING ACQUISITIONS

The Austrian software company Fabasoft AG is planning acquisitions especially on the important markets of Germany and the UK. In the first quarter of 2000, the company is to start business also in Stockholm and Brussels. Fabasoft is based in Puchenau near Linz and is focusing on its Fabasoft Components software system for customer relations management. The company's clients include banks, insurers, telecoms companies, energy suppliers and the public sector.
