AUSTRIA: AXA TO CUT COSTS IN CAR INSURANCE
Article Abstract:
In 1999, premiums of the Austrian insurer AXA Nordstern Colonia AG in accident insurance increased by 3.3% to Sch 2.2bn, while claims payments rose from Sch 1.3bn to Sch 1.4bn. The situation is difficult especially in the segment of comprehensive car insurance. Repair costs have increased by about 30% since 1992 while insurance premiums have risen only by about 20% on the average. AXA wants to cut costs, and has negotiated fixed prices with about 100 repair garages. Insurance clients using the services of these cooperation partners are granted bonuses.
