Article Abstract:
The Austrian post office savings bank sterreichische Postsparkasse (P.S.K.) aims to cut annual costs by Sch 400mn-500mn by the year 2002 despite increasing spending on computer services. In the same period the number of staff is to be reduced by about 400 to 1,700 people. This will take place through natural wastage and early retirement. Moreover, P.S.K., which is to be privatised after year 2000, is thinking of employing part-time staff to handle the peaks at the beginning of each month.
