Creating a global leader in personal services

Personnel services companies ECCO of France and Switzerland's Adia were merged in May 1996, creating a company capitalized at $4.3 billion. The combined entity, known as ADECCO, is a market leader in the world's $80 billion/y personnel services market and the merger is a major step in the industry's consolidation. The background to the merger is analysed.
