AUSTRIA: CVC TO BUY LENZING
Article Abstract:
Bank Austria has decided to sell its 80% stake in the fibre producer Lenzing to CVC Capital Partners of the UK for EUR 270mn. CVC already controls Lenzing's main competitor Acordis. Together the two companies will become the world's largest producer of viscose fibre. The new company based in Austria will employ 7,500 staff and have an annual capacity of 600,000 tonnes. With a turnover of EUR 1.4bn it will hold 20% to 30% of the world market.

HONG KONG: LENZING SEEKING GROWTH IN ASIA
Article Abstract:
The Austrian fibre producer Lenzing has set up a representative office in Hong Kong in order to expand in the markets in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and China. The company sees potential especially for Modal fibres. The Austrian company aims to benefit from the withdrawal of two Japanese competitors from the market.
