FRANCE: MCCAIN AND BONDUELLE'S GOALS
Article Abstract:
McCain and Bonduelle are striving to stimulate the French frozen vegetable market. McCain is the leader in frozen chips, with a 40% volume market share and a 53% value market share for frozen chips, and in frozen potato side dishes. Its strategy is based on three principles: new packaging with more attractive decorations, the launch of a new brand Just au Four (chips which are cooked in the oven in 12 minutes, and new advertising which includes four films for chips, and the slogan 'McCain, best before the others...' Frozen chips still have high development potential, since 63% of French households do not yet buy them. Bonduelle has brought out new products to stimulate frozen vegetable market, and to strengthen its leadership position with a 17.5% volume market share and nearly 25% value market share. These new products include vegetable patties with salmon, with bacon bits, and with poultry meat. Each contains less than 10% meat products in order to enhance the taste of these new products.
