AUSTRIA: YLINE, BEKO TO MERGE

In Austria, the internet company YLine is to take over the software house Beko. The merged company with 1,200 staff is expected to generate a pre-tax profit of EUR 3.5mn on a turnover of EUR 150mn in year 2000. YLine runs a number of business-to-business e-commerce platforms for clients such as the insurance companies Allianz and Basler, Cap Gemini and Metro. Beko recently acquired 55% of the stock of the business-to-business platform Offert.com. YLine and Beko are now planning to enter the Application Service Provider market and become one of the ASP leaders in Europe.
