AUSTRIA: OBERSTEIRISCHE REJECTS DAIRY INVESTMENT
Article Abstract:
Obersteirische Molkerei (OM) has decided against the plan to set up a new dairy in St. Michael in cooperation with Linz-based Berglandmilch. According to the company's calculations, the project would not have yielded a sufficient profit contribution. The investment was estimated at Sch 700mn. Obersteirische Molkerei and Berglandmilch are to meet for talks again at the beginning of May 2000, after which Berglandmilch is to decide on alternatives. These include the possibilities of exchanging production, cooperating in the production of milk and yoghurt and the relocation of some production plants. Also NOM of Lower Austria remains a potential partner for Berglandmilch.
