Optimal design of a multiservice system: the line-penalty problem
Article Abstract:
The design of a complex queueing system using independent subsystems that share limited resources is evaluated. The system should minimize the inefficiency index of various production systems that provide equally varying services to independent classes of customers. An optimal solution to the problem is derived through the derivation of the maximum expected line-penalty among the subsystems.
