Advertising & promotions: advertising expenditure: disposable paper products: Benelux
Article Abstract:
The disposable paper products industry in Benelux spends a total of about $45 million annually for advertising and promotions. Advertising expenditure, which accounts to 3.2% of the disposable paper products market value, is pressured to be raised by companies to excel the efforts of rival companies' branded products and to promote skeptical consumers regarding branded products. Kimberly-Clark's ad campaign for its Huggies disposable diaper brand is the most notable in the region. The ad launched an added velcro sealing feature in 1996 costing an estimated $7 million. The ad boosted the firm's Benelux market share and sales by 10% in 1997.

The Benelux market for disposable paper products: key trends
Article Abstract:
The disposable paper products market in Benelux is expected to continue its stability in real value terms from the review period, 1993 to 1997, to 2002. However, the review period was negatively affected by multinationals' brand rivalry and demand increase in private label from retailers. The products, which are mainly distributed through Supermarkets, posted a decline in nominal market value by 8.1% during the review period. Meanwhile, the personal sector is the largest part of the disposable paper products market to 60.4% of the total value in 1997 due to the significant size of sanpro and disposable diapers subsectors.
