Agriculture and fisheries: case studies in market intervention and resource allocation
Article Abstract:
There are a number of economic problems associated with intervention by western governments in agriculture and fishing through the Common Agricultural Policy and the Common Fisheries Policy. European Union governments believe that intervention in agriculture is necessary in order to protect food supplies and to ensure that the countryside is well managed. However, farmers have been encouraged to maximise output, and this has created difficulties. The Common Fisheries Policy is mainly designed to protect fish stocks, rather than manage the market price.

Marketers can easily monitor the progress of the promotional program and assess its effectiveness when controls over promotion execution are established.

Article Abstract:
A case study is made of a Soviet incentive plan that has various limitations in the effort to resolve incentive compatibility problems. The Soviet plan is defective because it will require that significant conditions be met for the desired results. Though the overall output of the company may improve upon adoption of the Soviet incentive plan, the result will be problematic since it depends on specific advantages.
