Agusta, Bell Helicopter enter construction pact

Agusta of Italy and Bell Helicopter have entered a venture deal for the joint development of the Bell BA609 civil helicopter and the Agusta AB139 helicopter. Bell BA609 is slated to be the first ever civilian-use tiltrotor in production, with deliveries scheduled for April 2002 after first flight in the end of 2000. Agusta AB139, a multipurpose helicopter slated for first delivery in 2002, is capable of carrying as much as 15 passengers for use in military transport, fire-fighting, energy services and other. Bell Helicopter is to be the majority shareholder in the joint venture, specific terms of which were undisclosed. Bell Helicopter chairman and managing director Terry Stinson said the partners will both gain from the expanded range of products, as well as from greater market penetration.

Accor, Compass plan Australian venture
Article Abstract:
Accor SA, the French hotel and tourism concern, is forming a joint venture with Compass Group PLC to provide catering services in Australia, said Accor chairman Jean-Marc Espalioux. Under the terms of the preliminary agreement, Accor will own 35% of the venture, an equity stake equivalent to more than A$10 million, said Raymond Capdeville, deputy chairman of Accor's Asian-Pacific division who will head the joint venture. The venture will compete with such companies as Spotless Services Ltd. in the institutional catering business.
