Ahold settles charges in SEC investigation without paying fine
Article Abstract:
Securities and Exchange officials cite Ahold N.V.'s willingness to perform thorough investigations of its operations as one of the reasons the U.S. regulatory agency let the Dutch supermarket conglomerate settle civil charges without requiring payment of a fine. The settlement followed a 1 1/2 year investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission into alleged accounting irregularities and inflated financial reporting at Ahold and its subsidiary U.S. Foodservice.
