VNU's flat 1st-half net meets forecasts

VNU NV reported flat earnings for the first-half of 1999. However, the company is expecting to post an improvement of 10% in its earnings for the entire 1999 year. VNU, a publishing firm based in the Netherlands, reported 110 million euros in net profits for the period. This figure was what analysts had predicted. Post-amortization operating income increased by 19% to 260 million euros.
