Debenhams' sales decline, as analysts cut forecasts
Article Abstract:
Debenhams PLC reported disappointing sales figures for the first four months of the company's fiscal second-half in 1999. As a result of the 3.6% decline in sales, analysts reduced their expectations for Debenhams, a department store operator based in the UK. The company's total sales fell by 0.7% for the 18 weeks to July 17, 1999. Analysts do believe that Debenhams could see additional improvement in its cost margins.
