Allied Domecq favors Whitbread offer, but might still listen to new Punch bid
Article Abstract:
Allied Domecq PLC once again supported Whitbread PLC's initial bid. However, the company did not eliminate the possibility of accepting a revised offer from Punch Taverns Ltd. Allied Domecq announced that it would recommend to shareholders Whitbread's offer of 2.88 billion pound sterling (4.44 billion euros) for the firm's more than 3,500 pubs. The bid is a cash and stock offer. Allied Domecq said it would allow shareholders to decide between Whitbread's offer and Punch's 2.93 billion pound sterling all-cash bid.
