Amazon narrows loss in 1st quarter on 22% sales gain

Amazon.com Inc. reduced its net loss for the 2001 first-quarter with an increase of 22% in its sales. The company posted a $234.1 million (261.8 million euros) net loss for the period, compared to a net loss of $308.4 million in the same 2000 period.
