An empirical oligopoly model of a regulated market
Article Abstract:
A three-firm oligopoly in Spain's fertilizer industry from 1976 to 1988, which was subject to price ceilings, is modeled. The behavior of the firms and how regulation constrained the price are simultaneously identified using a theoretical and economic model. It was hypothesized that they would enter into collusive market-sharing arrangements involving asymmetric firms or adopt the less collusive outcomes of Cournot and Stackelberg. The regulation-constrained Stackelberg equilibrium was identified as the most likely outcome.

Industry concentration and competition: New Zealand experience
Article Abstract:
A study has been conducted to examine the changes in industry concentration of New Zealand manufacturing industries and their determinants using a sample of 109 industries at the five-digit level of the New Zealand Standard Industrial Classification. Findings indicated that New Zealand manufacturing industries are more concentrated than those of most other countries. The present levels of concentration have been found to be significantly lower than levels posted during the early 1980s.

Firms' age, process innovation and productivity growth
Article Abstract:
The productivity growth impact of process innovations introduced by firms along their different ages is estimated using semiparmetric methods. The results show that firms enter the market experiencing high productivity growth and that above-average growth rates tend to exist for many years, but also that productivity growth of surviving firms converges.
