The strike at South Korea's Hyundai Group involving 60,000 workers, which was declared illegal by Pres Kim Young-Sam, has not inspired the usual nationwide uproar. The people seem to realize that the strike and skyrocketing wages pose a threat to Korea's economy and competitiveness.

Research into how vampire bats behave differently from regular bats provides clues as to how that animal evolved. It is now thought that vampire bats were once omnivores that lived in trees that became blood suckers for reasons still unknown.
