Article Abstract:
Handheld satellite phone systems that allow connection to anywhere in the world are a step nearer with the launch of a global satellite network by telecommunications consortium Iridium. Each of the 66 satellites will be simultaneously linked by radio to four others, allowing signals to be transmitted globally. Other systems in development include Globalstar and Odyssey. Asia's own Aces system is being developed by partnership Pasifik Satelit Nusantara which plans to launch the world's biggest commercial satellite in 1998. Pricing for the new services have not been finalized, but will probably undercut tariffs for using phones in hotel rooms.

Article Abstract:
Traditional floppy disks only hold 1.44 megabytes of data and they are now being superceded by products such as the Zip disk from Iomega Corp. This can store the same as 70 floppy disks. The Superdisk or LS120 is now available from Imation Corp. These drives are nine times quicker than traditional floppy disks, however, the disks which can be used in it cost $15 compared to 50 cents for a normal floppy. This is offset by the extra storage space the new disks offer. The disk drive will work with old floppies, however, old disk drives cannot accept the new LS120 disks.
